Manila (9 February 2012)— Nestle Philippines sets the standard for summer sports events once again with the highly anticipated launch of its annual beach volleyball circuit, NESTEA Beach Volleyball. Now on its 15th season, NESTEA Beach Volleyball continues to heighten its commitment to Filipino sportsmanship by offering top volleyball players the chance to hone their athletic talent and skills in the national arena. NESTEA Beach Volleyball has made sure that they offer only the best. It is sanctioned by the Philippine Volleyball Federation (PVF) and conforms with the standards of the Fédération Internationale de Volleyball (FIVB) allowing participants to play and compete in a league with international standards.
The season kicks off with four collegiate regional elimination legs in Mindanao, Visayas, Luzon and NCR, starting with Samal Island in Davao on February 23 to 25, followed by Moalboal in Cebu on March 9 to 11. Tanauan, Batangas will be the venue for 2 elimination legs, with March 21 to 23 set for the Luzon leg and March 25 to March 27 for the NCR leg. The 15th NESTEA Beach Volleyball finals leg will take place in Boracay on April 19 to 21.
A total of 24 teams composed of 12 teams for each division (men and women) will be invited per regional leg. Each team is composed of 2 players and 1 coach per school. The top 3 teams in each division from the regional legs will qualify for the national championship in Boracay. They will vie for the championship and cash prize of P100,000.00 per division.
“This year’s NESTEA Beach Volleyball tournament is even more exciting as there are now five legs in the competition, which gives more players from other provinces an opportunity to take part in this prestigious event,” said Jose Manuel Santos, Marketing Promotions and Events Executive for NESTEA. “We have also lined-up a unique mix of interesting activities and side events. Moreover, the tournament takes place in some of the country’s best beaches, making its 15th year milestone an even more exciting one.”

“Through NESTEA Beach Volleyball, NESTEA aims to bring together the youth in the ultimate beach summer event that promotes refreshing goodness through a healthy, active and responsible lifestyle,” said Jose Manuel Santos, Marketing Promotions and Events Executive for NESTEA. In addition to the tournament, NESTEA will also launch the NESTEA Loves the Beach coastal clean-up campaign as a continued effort to raise awareness and encourage action on preserving the Philippines’ pristine beaches.
Under this beach clean-up initiative, NESTEA will be working with local government units and the Boracay Beach Management Program to produce and disseminate beach preservation informational materials to raise awareness on the importance of keeping Philippine beaches litter-free. NESTEA will also conduct beach clean-up activities with the volleyball players, celebrities and NESTEA executives as well as fund-raising efforts through NESTEA coin banks in various establishments that will provide additional funding to sustain ongoing clean-up activities throughout the year.
Participants and tournament spectators can also look forward to a fun-filled Boracay weekend with a variety of activities in the NESTEA Activity Zone such as the WIFI Lounge, NESTEA Photo booth, NESTEA sampling stations, NESTEA Plunge Game, and seeing their favorite stars in the NESTEA Celebrity exhibition games.
The winning teams of the 15th Nestea Beach Volleyball will be awarded at the victory party featuring top DJs and performing acts at Club Paraw.
The NESTEA Beach Volleyball circuit is one of the country’s most prestigious volleyball tournaments, wherein participating players eventually become members of the Philippine National Beach Volleyball team.
The 15th NESTEA Beach Volleyball circuit players will be sporting Speedo uniforms and volleying Mikasa balls in all the games.
